Tessell, the leading next-generation database-as-a-service (DBaaS) that helps startups and enterprises accelerate data and application modernization journeys at scale, today announced its commitment to provide its Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) platform for Oracle on Google Cloud. The Tessell announcement follows the news earlier this month that Oracle and Google will partner to offer Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and Google Cloud technologies as an option to accelerate application migrations and modernization. Tessell’s Oracle PaaS (Platform-as-a-Service) on Google Cloud is expected to become available later this year.

Tessell already supports Oracle-powered applications on Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure. This latest release will enable DBaaS users to migrate, modernize, and manage Oracle databases on Google Cloud. Tessell for Google Cloud will host high-performance workloads, including support for the Exadata infrastructure running on Google Cloud.

“Oracle and Google Cloud already have joint customers, and with the addition of Tessell on Google Cloud, DBaaS users have the flexibility to host high-performance Oracle workloads on AWS, Azure, OCI, or Google Cloud,” said Perren Walker, Head of Cloud Partnerships at Tessell. “Our goal has always been to offer a data infrastructure and management platform capable of supporting Oracle across multiple clouds, offering maximum flexibility and substantial cost savings. Customers should be able to choose how and where they host their databases.”

Tessell’s DBaaS platform offers three distinct advantages:

  1. Data flexibility - Tessell’s mission is to deliver seamless support databases like Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MySQL across public clouds. The Virtual Private Tessell (VPT) model offers a fully managed and hosted platform by Tessell, providing a dedicated cloud account to customers.
  2. Oracle PaaS on Google Cloud – As with support for AWS and Azure, Tessell offers comprehensive managed services for commercial and open-source databases on Google Cloud, including patching, provisioning, cloning, and upgrading. Tessell provides advanced data management services like automated data masking, FinOps visibility, cloud compute shape curation, Terraform integration, and policy-driven self-service access.
  3. Cost savings – Tessell customers who have migrated Oracle to other cloud platforms have realized significant savings with IOPS levels comparable to Exadata. Tessell provides additional savings by Including Oracle database lifecycle management. Tessell also eliminates the need for third-party backup and masking solutions.

The Tessell DBaaS platform is ideal for Oracle customers considering migration to Google Cloud. Tessell makes deploying cloud databases easy, delivering simplified management, data protection, security and compliance, and 10x performance.
